Join a springtime walk on Vickleby Alvar and discover the plants, geology, and history of this characteristic Öland landscape.
On May 18 at 2:00 PM, we meet at the parking lot east of Vickleby Church for a guided walk onto the alvar. This two-hour tour follows a gentle pace through grazing pastures and out onto the open limestone plain.
Along the way, your guide will highlight the plants that have adapted over centuries to the harsh climate, thin soil, and grazing pressure. The walk also covers the geology beneath your feet and the historical backdrop of this unique agricultural landscape.
Perfect for those interested in nature, wildflowers, and Öland’s spring landscapes.
