Vickleby Alvar is home to a fascinating array of plants that have adapted over centuries to the harsh conditions of the landscape and grazing pressures. During this guided walk, you will gain insight into the distinctive flora and the orchids that bloom during early summer.
We gather at the large parking lot east of Vickleby Church, on the eastern side of the main road. From there, we walk through grazing pastures and onto the alvar, stopping at various points to examine the plants and hear stories about the area's geology and history.
