Discover the flavors of Öland on a colorful culinary walk across the legendary Alvaret. Enjoy local delicacies surrounded by vibrant flowers, cultural stories, and the rich history of this unique landscape.
Embark on a culinary adventure through Öland’s mythical Alvaret, where local flavors meet natural beauty and cultural heritage. The tour begins in one of Öland’s most delightful gardens, Capellagården. From there, you’ll stroll through the charming village street of Vickleby before heading out onto the vast Stora Alvaret.
Along the way, you’ll savor a variety of Öland specialties, including pasture-raised meats, delicious cheeses with marmalades, bean salads, hummus, pickled red onions, sea buckthorn, chutneys, and local breads. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the region’s culinary and cultural history, sprinkled with local legends.
In Vickleby, you’ll hear about the lives of artists and locals who have shaped the village, nestled on the edge of Stora Alvaret. The tour ends back at Capellagården, where a plate of local cheeses and marmalades is served in the inspiring garden, followed by freshly brewed coffee and homemade pastries.
The walk covers approximately 4 km and takes around 4.5 hours, including food stops. Dogs are welcome if kept on a leash. The tour operates in all weather conditions, so dress accordingly. The tour may be cancelled or changed at short notice due to bad weather or other reasons – something that is very unusual.
