Discover Öland’s rural heritage at the Himmelsberga Museum and its uniquely preserved Öland row village, offering insight into farm life from the 18th to 20th centuries. Explore historical farms, meet heritage breed animals, and experience a journey back in time.
Experience life on historical Öland at the Himmelsberga Museum, where traditional farmhouses from the 18th to 20th centuries have been preserved for future generations. This unique double-row village allows you to explore enclosed courtyards, barns, and authentic interiors that tell the story of life in the Swedish countryside.
Meet preserved heritage breed animals grazing on the meadows, and enjoy the sight of traditional crops and plants in the garden. In addition to the preserved farms, the museum now features two exhibition halls, a cozy café, and a shop.
The latest addition is the Lorangahallen, where you can meet characters from Barbro Lindgren's books in a large play exhibition. Himmelsberga offers an exciting cultural experience in the scenic landscape of eastern Öland and is operated by the Öland Heritage Association.
Stora- and Lilla Hallen, the stage area and the seating area in the Café are all on one level. There are two accessible toilets: one by the Café (on the museum's east side) and another near the Art Hall (on the museum's west side). The interiors of the historic farmhouses can only be accessed via stone steps of varying heights, but the outer courtyards and gardens are on one level and accessible via stone-paved paths or mown grass areas.
Öland Museum Himmelsberga allows service animals throughout the grounds and in the Café.
